Ingredients You’ll Need
- 12 slider rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak (or deli roast beef for a shortcut)
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 6-8 slices provolone cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing on top)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Sliders
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish large enough to hold the rolls snugly.
Step 2: Cook the Steak and Veggies
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using), and cook until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5 minutes.
- Push the veggies to the side of the skillet and add the steak. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through. Mix the steak and veggies together, then remove from heat.
Step 3: Assemble the Sliders
- Slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping them attached, to create a top and bottom layer. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
- Spread mayonnaise (if using) on the bottom layer of rolls.
- Layer the steak and veggie mixture evenly over the rolls.
- Place provolone cheese slices on top, covering the steak mixture completely.
- Add the top layer of rolls.
