How to Make Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
- Thinly slice the chicken breasts against the grain.
- Toss the chicken slices with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for smooth sauce). Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Stir-Fry Sauce
- In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and chili paste (if using). Mix well and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Chicken
- Heat vegetable oil or sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
Step 4: Stir-Fry the Veggies
- In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
- Add the shredded cabbage to the pan and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
