Ingredients
- 12 large button mushrooms (or cremini mushrooms)
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (for crunch, optional)
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling)
- Optional: bacon bits, spinach, or sausage for added flavor
How to Make Stuffed Mushrooms
1. Prepare the Mushrooms
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and remove the stems. Gently hollow out the inside of the mushroom caps to create space for the filling.
- Place the mushroom caps on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
2. Make the Filling
- In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
- Add the garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper to the cheese mixture and stir until smooth and well combined.
- If you like a bit of crunch, fold in the breadcrumbs or you can use crushed crackers for extra texture. For additional flavor, you can add cooked bacon bits, sausage, or spinach at this stage.
3. Stuff the Mushrooms
- Spoon the filling into each mushroom cap, packing it in generously. You can pile it up high for a decadent bite.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the stuffed mushrooms to help them crisp up during baking.
4. Bake the Mushrooms
- Bake the mushrooms in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is golden and bubbly.
